So I talk the talk, but the real question is can I walk the walk..eeeerr…run the run? Well, let’s hope so!
In just a few weeks I’ll be lacing up my shoes (pink Nike Vomeros to be exact), shoving fuel in places that food shouldn’t normally be kept, and be hanging the glorious training plan up on the fridge. So what’s up next? A few things…
1. See Jane Run Half Marathon – June 2, 2010
This is really more of a fun race with a bunch of great bloggers in my area. Goal time? Don’t have one. Even though I am uber-competitive with myself, I’m going to try and just go out there and do what I do best: run and have fun. Maybe I’ll try not to look at my Garmin every mile. Well, let’s be real now.
2. Chicago Marathon – October 10, 2010
This is one of the big kahunas this year and the one race that I am going to get serious about. Do I dream of qualifying for Boston? But of course! But I must remind myself that my goal is just to finish. Finish. Finish. Oh ya and fuel properly so I don’t end up in the med tent again.
I’m going to try out a plan that Aron sent me: 18 weeks with a 55 base. I’m really excited to get some good mileage under my belt and try to get some more speed and hill work in. However, if anyone finds me passed out in the middle of the street over the next 18 weeks, please scoop me up and return me to the location on my RoadID. My fiancé and puppy will thank you for that.
3. Long Beach Half Marathon – October 17, 2010
One week after Chicago, I’m hopping back on a plane to go run Danica’s race: the Long Beach Half Marathon. Not only do I get to pound the beach side pavement with some of my favorite running bloggers, but it’s one step closer to the California Dreamin’ bling-blang! I’m a bit worried about the races being back to back, but I just have to keep this one nice, slow, and easy. Consider it a recovery run.
4. Surf Cit Half Marathon – February 6, 2011
This one is purely for the medal. Series complete. Medal achieved. And an extra bonus: a sweet little mini vacation. Goal here again is just a normal training run and preparation for TBD races.
Then comes the TBD races, include Arkansas (again, for the giant, plate-sized medal), CIM (all depending on how Chicago goes), Boston (a girl can only dream), a handful of smaller races, and then of course, my race to the altar (hardy-har-har…get it?!)
Will I be seeing any of you at these races? Do you have any other recommendations for great 2011 races?
See you at See Jane Run! (in my new Vomeros too!)
Woo hoo! See you there!
Sad sighs — won’t be at any of those events. I will be running marathons on 10/10 and 10/17, too but I am in for the Portland/Humboldt combo, probably.
2011 I am hoping to do Chicago! But you probably won’t go back again for that.
Sad indeed! Maybe we’ll find one later in 2011. Good luck on your races this year!
After Chicago 2007 (the year they shut it down), it’ll take a lot to get me back there. I will be at CIM if you end up going to run OR to cheer.
BTW: I dream of Boston too.
Oh no! I had to Google “Chicago Marathon 2007” to found out what happened! CRAP! If the heat is even close to that again, I’ll hold off and do CIM with ya.
BTW: I’m glad to hear there’s other BM dreamers out there 🙂
I won’t be at any of those races, either. 🙁 (Couldn’t quite do See Jane Run.) Yeah, Chicago was crazy hot in 2007, and quite warm in 2008. But last year it was 32 degrees at the start, so I wouldn’t get too worried yet. I couldn’t feel my feet for the first mile! Oh, and uber Oakland trail running star Caitlin Smith will be running Chicago, so you’ll be in good company!
I’m out of town for See Jane Run – boo!
But I’ll be at Long Beach and Surf City – I want the bling, too!!!!
I’m doing LB full, so I don’t know if I’ll do CIM, maybe a relay team???
I wear pink Vomeros, too! I <3 them =)
I'll be sitting out LB and Surf City this time around because I'll finally be done with the CA Dreamin' Series after SFM this year. w00t! Hello, bling-blang! I will be doing CIM tho, so hopefully I'll see you there if you decide to do it.
Oh, and your bling-blang is sooooooooooooooo purty!
Vomeros!!!!! Have you tried the new Vomero 5s yet?
And sad face that I won’t see you at LB or SC, but hopefully at CIM!
BLING BLAAANG!
