This weekend’s 13 miler came with some good news and some bad news, but in the spirit of Monday and trying to start this week off on a positive note, let’s begin with the good news shall we.
As I talked with Chicken about my usual routes and how they were getting stale, he suggested that I head out of my normal comfort zone and explore the vineyards that are practically in our backyard. Elated at the possibility of new and beautiful routes, I instantly said yes, found directions and was eager for Saturday morning to arrive.
That morning I gathered all of my gear: iPod shuffle (borrowing Chicken’s as mine is still lost), Blackberry (as the iPhone is cracked beyond the point of no return…come on iPhone 4!), iFitness belt and a credit card (another running must…just in case). I scampered out the door ready to put down some mileage.
My elated outlook soon turned sour as I kept running and running with no vineyards in sight; only some measly vines here and there. WTF, Chicken? Is this supposed to be the magical vineyard run? Patient, dear Page, patience…
Before you knew it I was winding in and out of some fantastic-looking vineyards that were truly a unique addition to the running scenery. The estates and property were gorgeous, just as long as you look at them and not the other side of the road (which was complete ugliness). At that moment I realized what a little baby I was at the start of the run and just how lucky I was to have this in my backyard. Chicken and I are definitely going to seize the opportunity to go to some actually tasting here!
I was stopping at all sorts of fantastic locations to take my phone out of my iFitness belt and snap some photos; however, around mile six I went to put my phone back in the belt and…DAMN IT! My credit card was gone! With all the times I had taken my phone out and put it away, my credit card had fallen out! Freaking out I had to cut my run short, turn around and hastily run home…scanning the ground the entire time. Much to my dismay, my poor credit card was never found. I instantly called and cancelled my card and thankfully, no one had picked it up and started charging anything on it. Phew!
Despite the credit card mishap, I’ll definitely be heading back to the vineyards for more runs. Yet, before I do so, I think I want to get the two pocket SpyBelt or iFitness belts. Does anyone have one of those? Which of the two would you recommend?
Hope everyone had a great running weekend!
Just purchased the Ifitness belt with two pockets and I love it! Does great to hold starburst, gum and junk on one side and my phone on the other without bouncing!
I must, must get one now! I’ve heard so many great things.
