Why hello, there! Miss me? Naaah…
Earlier this week I received something shocking in the mail:
Yes, it was my Chicago Marathon race packet thingy-ma-jig. Wait, what?! The race is in less than a month away? Come again? It’s in a little more that two weeks?!
WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?!
But instead of writing the post with me complaining about how training has been abhorrent and I might have to be picked up off the sidewalk, I’m going to opt to wear very, very rose-colored glasses. Or maybe I’ll do what Oprah always talked about or all that crap they say in “The Seccccret” (yes, that was supposed to sound like Oprah saying it, but it just doesn’t have the same ring in text). Any-who, what I do know is that I’m so, so very excited to check another major marathon off my list and for a quick vacation to a brand new city with Chicken Face.
Chicken is the best because while he is not a runner, he always travels with me to my races, waits and cheers me on, and never (well, most of the time) complains. He is my ultimate running rock and without him, traveling to these destination races wouldn’t be the same. I’m curious, when you travel to races, do you go alone, with a non-runner, or pal around with other runners most of the time? And if you are like me a travel with non-runners, how do you thank them? I want to be sure to do something special for Chicken and would love any ideas.
