Hello from a very soggy San Francisco/East Bay! Despite the two-hour commute from hell this morning (thus, no early blog post), it turned out to be an a-ok day. Secret Santa at work? Check. New glasses that I’m in love with. Double check. Ready for an exciting weekend? Yes, please!
Thanks so much for all of your questions! Some were so good that I won’t answer them in this post and instead save them for a post of their own (ooooh…ahhhhhhh!). Here goes:
Kimberly asked, “I am not a marathoner but working on my second 1/2 marathon in March (Shamrockin’ in Sac) I am having a bit of a struggle with the in between timeframes and what I do for maintenance. I like to keep my base mileage around 8. Petty I know, but hey I’m new to this. Any insight you can give about what you do in between would be mucho appreciated!”
Hey Kimberly! Oh man, I wish I had some really official-sounding advice for you. I too had the same struggles when I was trying to figure out my maintenance plan, but here is my non-official two cents: given that you are inbetween half marathons, I would just keep the legs moving. Regardless of how far or hard you run, just keep them moving four days a week to keep the muscles awake and prevent a bit of atrophy.
Alexia asked, “What would be your total, absolute dream job? Where would be your most favorite place to live? “
Oh Alexia, how I love you! Lex and I worked together in Reno and she taught me the ropes to PR. So, absolute dream job? Don’t get me wrong Edelman peeps, I LOVE my job. But if you throw the word “dream” in there that mixes everything up. I contemplated about whether or not I should put this up, but for my whole life I wanted to be an actress. Ya, ya, ya…I know what you are all saying. My other dream jobs include an Olympic athlete or working for Nike. Hey, a girl can dream.
Favorite place to live? Oh man, I don’t think I’ve been enough places in the world to pick I favorite, but I kind of have a secret crush on Chicago. I can’t wait to see what Boston is like though.
Keri asked, “What is your job? (Sorry if I missed it from another post) How did you get into running?”
So what do I do that allows me to be on Facebook and Twitter all day? The short answer: I work for the digital arm of a public relations firm in San Francisco. This means I get to work on some really amazing clients and plan social media strategies for them. As for how I got into running, you can read all about it here!
Laura asked, “What is your favorite blog to read? And would you mind if I stole this post idea sometime?”
Oooooh, favorite blog?!? That’s like asking me to choose my favorite movie or food. Damn near impossible! I have tons of favorite blogs but there are a handful that I check every morning, and mostly because they are my friends (or I like to pretend that we are BFFs). Those blogs are Runners Rambles, ChicRunner, Hungry Runner Girl, Eat Live Run, and Cupcakes and Cashmere. Then I peruse all of my digital nerd blogs (Mashable, TechCrunch, Engadget, etc.).
And of course you can steal this post! I stole it from Keri and I don’t think it’s anyone’s intellectual property 😉
Laylya asked, “Why do you call your fiance chicken face?”
Hahaha, I get this one all the time. Even from Chicken Face himself! So, if you haven’t picked it up already, I’m kind of weird. True story. To be honest, there is no real reason why that’s his nickname other than the fact that I make up weird crap all the time. Does he look like a Chicken? No. Does he sound like a chicken? Nope. Does he have ugly looking feet and feathers like a chicken? Wrong again. Sorry, no real answer here other than one day I made it up and it stuck. Sorry Chicken Face!
Speaking of Chicken Face, to all those who asked about him, the wedding plans and how he proposed, I thought I wasn’t going to post anything about the wedding on the blog as I didn’t think running folks wanted to be flooded with wedding/mushy info. But if you do, I’ll be happy to share my story and possibly the greatest running proposal ever!
I love you even more. I remember our meet cute at the bathrooms. <3
Interesting that you said you dream of being an Olympic athlete, but I almost asked if you ever dream of being an Olympic runner as one of my questions…you are that fast in my eyes. Thanks for letting me steal your post idea!
Why are you so nice, Laura?! You should just post an evil comment and see what happens. Ok, no, no…I take that back!
🙂 cant wait to hear about the proposal. people love weddings dude- they are mushy & happy… i eat that shit up! 🙂
You eat that shit up?!?! 😉 LOVES IT!
You made my day!! I am so obsessed with your blog, I feel honored that you mentioned me on YOUR blog. Love the pictures, you are gorgeous!! I love getting to know you better. Chicken face, hilarious! I REALLY REALLY want to hear the proposal and I would LOVE to see the wedding plans…pretty please! Oh, Chicago…that would be amazing! Have a great weekend girly!
Oh Janae…you’re too nice! Proposal story coming soon!
Running proposal?! Maybe your fiance should call my boyfriend. Although if he went for a run, I would KNOW something is up!
Haha, ok. Let’s get them to chat and I’ll share the story soon!
If you like Chicago you will like Boston, too. It’s a great city (though I am biased being from Massachusetts, but I’ve also been to Chicago and I feel like they are kinda similar. Even SF had a Boston feeling for me).
