Wow – I must say that I was completely ecstatic to see all of your fantastic responses to my quest to find the perfect Boston playlist. I started working on it this weekend and will be sharing the final product soon! If you have any additional music recos, be sure to add them here.
In other Boston preparation news, I am putting my love for all things Google back to work. I started pinning all of the locations that are of importance to our trip to make it easy for Chicken Face and I to get from point A to point B. I wanted to share with you all, but also ask YOU for your Boston recommendations. What should we do? Where should we eat? What should we see? As much as this is a running focused trip, I also want to make sure that Chicken Face enjoys his time back east as well. So here you have it folks:
You can view the interactive Boston 2011 map here.
(P.S. WordPress is being finicky…still working on getting the embed code to work so you can play with the map right here.)
In other news, this weekend was my “get shiz done” weekend. Six miles on Saturday, 14 on Sunday, car wash, mani and pedi (I couldn’t stand my runner’s feet anymore), and the list goes on. I’m off for a work trip this week – it’s about to get crazy folks!
Happy running and have a great week!
Can[‘t see everything you have posted there, but Giacommos always has a huge line and I think its overrated. Definitely hit up the North End- I love La Galleria 33. Sam Adams Brewery is amazing… ask me any questions, I’ve been here all my life : ) Oh and Boston is tiny- you could prob walk the whole city in 4 miles : )
Boston is awesome – you will have a blast!
I went there a long time ago in 2002 (we were there a week or so), my favorite things I did were:
Fenway Park – Boston Red Sox game (favorite ballpark I’ve ever been to)
USS Constitution boat
Cheers bar (either the actual original Cheers bar or the replica one)
Harvard University
Cambridge – just a ton of college students around, a fun vibe
Cape Cod – if you have time to check it out, it was great to check it out
Faneuil Hall – it is very touristy, but there are a ton of bars, and street performers
Italian food in North Beach – amazing italian food (and I even heard someone say “fget about it!” it was like straight out of a movie! haha
Mike’s for Cannolis! http://www.mikespastry.com/
I heartily second this!
You are going to have so much fun in Boston! I haven’t been in YEARS! But when I went it was great, but I don’t remember where I went!
Love the picture of your mani/pedi! Always goes well with the engagement ring!
A few of my favorites things from the past couple years I’ve gone & run: Duck tour (great way to see the city & stay off your feet), Faneiul Hall, walking the Freedom Trail (don’t do it before the race though!), Mike’s Pastry in the North End (be prepared to stand in line though), Sam Adams Brewery, and shopping on Newbury Street. Good luck!
Love your nails they are so cute. So when i visited friends in Boston a year or so ago, we did the hop on hop off bus tour. You get driven around the city and anywhere you want to explore you just get off and the buses pass around about every 10-15 minutes. That was pretty fun.
We also did drinks at Top of the Hub, its a restaurant / cocktail lounge at the top of the prudential building, and it has really amazing views of the city!
I need a mani/pedi so badly!
I’ve never been to Boston so you can fill me in on all your fun activities!
When you visit Harvard, make sure you stop at Pinochio’s Pizza! Its on Winthrop St and has the best pizza in Cambridge! wwww.pinochiospizza.net
I didn’t even notice the mani with that gorgeous diamond staring me in the face!
I love coming across other runner’s blogs! Can’t wait to catch up on your previous posts!

ps – check out my Cory Renee Clutch Giveaway!
Ive never been to Boston so I cant be much help..love your ring!
i’m sitting here and taking notes from your comments section! im going this coming weekend too and I’m totally making a pit stop at the finish line to ogle over the banners!
i wore flip-flops yesterday and horrified people everywhere with my terrifying looking feet. see you in boston!
Giacomo’s is delish. There is always a line out the door, and it’s cash only, but the homemade pasta is so good, with the lobster tomato sauce. I personally believe it is worth the wait outside, but ONLY if you’re getting pasta & sauce, because those are their specialties. Otherwise, I’d probably go somewhere else. You have the one in the south end on your map, but I’ve only been to the one in the north end so maybe the line situation is different.
Everyone recommends Mike’s pastries and while it’s good, it’s a total tourist trap. Go to Modern pastry across the street.
Faneuil Hall. I’d recommend faneuil hall to anyone, it’s just a fun place to walk around. As a lifelong Bostonian, I go to faneuil during my lunch break at least once a week during the summer, it’s good people watching.
I’d definitely agree that Duck Tours are a fun way to see the city, if you have it in the budget I’d totally recommend it.
For pizza I’d recommend Regina’s in the North End, I don’t care what anyone else says, it’s the best. Also usually has a line out the door down the street.
Yesssss! Love the google map, LOVE, LOVE! I do that all the time 🙂 My boyfriend makes fun of me SO MUCH when I do this, but it honestly helps so much. There are a few really good seafood places that your fiance should check out (I would say you too, but probably best to avoid that until after the race, you never know!) that are near your hotel!
1. No name restaurant http://www.nonamerestaurant.com/
2. Yankee Lobster (literally right next door to Harpoon!) http://www.yankeelobstercompany.com/menu.htm
3. The Barking Crab http://www.barkingcrab.com/
There is also another really good Italian restaurant to check out called Sportello http://www.sportelloboston.com/ (They also have REALLY good carry out stuff too, so if you wanted something quick and easy that is a good option)
PS You are staying SOOO close to my hood!!
pretty, pretty nails!! Boston is so close! you’re going to do great 🙂
Beautiful ring!!!!!! Your feet look great! I would be way too embarrassed to ever post a picture of mine 🙂
I agree with Meghan that Mike’s Pastries is a great stop and with Jenny that the Duck Tours are a great, quick way to see the city and decide what you might want to go back and see more of after the tour ends. Plus, you won’t be on your feet which is a plus with the race looming. 🙂
As a Bostonian, I’ve done pretty much EVERYTHING there is to do here… but believe me, it never gets old.
1. North End– Mike’s Pastry is incredible but if the line is too long, Modern Pastry is the best second.
2. Fanueil Hall– a must if you love to shop and eat. Wagamama’s is different but incredible (an Asian-inspired noodle bar). Cheers bar is fun but there are a ton of places inside of the hall if you are looking for something quick and easy (and if you have a craving for REAL clam chowda, this is place to get it!)
3. Duck tours– you either love ’em or you hate ’em. These are fun and different if you want something totally out of the ordinary.
4. Fenway– take in a game if you have time or, instead of actually buying tickets, go to the Bleacher Bar on Landsdowne Street. You can see the game from inside the bar and enjoy a really casual atmosphere at the same time.
5. Fire & Ice– located on Berkeley street. I know they have a few of these in Cali so it’s not strictly a Boston place but its fun and the energy is always high and the food is just plain GOOD.
I hope you have a blast while you are here! I might come out and watch part of the marathon since everyone has the day off!

Chocolate & Wine
The North End has some great pasta and gelato, but if you like seafood, you should visit the Union Oyster House – awesome clam chowder!
I’m kind of a history nerd, and I really love the guided tours of The Freedom Trail – pretty cool and a great way to see tons of places. Definitely stop and do some shopping in Quincy market.
Harvard square also is a lot of fun, with some cool restaurants. I feel so smart walking around there! 🙂
If you feel like a 30-minute train ride outside the city, visit Salem. It’s such a fun place. I lived there for 6 months and loved it!
Sorry, I love Boston so much and could keep giving you suggestions all day! Whatever you do, you’ll love it!
