Question for you: how is it almost May?! Since January, I knew that April would be a crazy busy month and wouldn’t-ya-know-it, it’s almost done! Since we’re nearing the start of May, it’s a perfect time to reflect back on my 2011 goals and see where we stand.
You can read the original goal post here, but here’s a brief recap:
- Complete the Boston Marathon within my goal time – Complete! Well, I didn’t achieve my goal time but I’m considering this one a win.
- Complete the Boston to Big Sur challenge alive (more on this later) – This weekend! I’m starting to get nervous about this cold of mine (zero energy today), but I’m not going to let it stop me.
- Complete a half marathon in 1:30 or less – To be completed. Any recos on flat, fast courses for this bad boy?
- Track all of my running and run 2,011 miles in 2011 – Oh man, I logged the miles casually but not officially. Need to work on this.
- Re-learn to competitively bike and swim – Haven’t even touched this one. Hopefully soon!
- Stay INJURY FREE – Knock on wood…no injuries yet!
- Get MARRIED and honeymoon with Chicken Face in July 2011 – Soon!
- Find a new place to live (preferably something that is more than 600 sq. ft. and has a frickin’ bedroom door) – COMPLETE! I am so excited for this one as we now have two bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the Bay Area? Come visit! Now I just need to decorate.
- And some more personal ones that I’ll leave you guessing about
– In progress!
Also, I vowed that my mantra for 2011 would be “to not let a moment pass me by.” There are days that I could do a better job at not complaining and treating everyday like it’s my last, but overall, I think that I’m really honoring this mantra. From weekend adventures, Boston, San Diego, wedding planning and more, my life is busier than even and I’m trying to soak in every moment.
To ensure that I keep marching forward to check off each one of these goals, it’s all about focus and maintaining my passion for running. To do this, I know I need to take some week-long breaks to rekindle my energy and with just a few days, I will be rested and ready to charge forward.
So now I turn to you, how have you been doing on your 2011 goals? I think that everyone should do a quarterly reflection post as it is helps remind you of what you so passionately jotted down in January. What goals have you completed? What goals do you still want to work on?
Oh, and because I hate posts without photos, here’s one to prove that achieving your goals is always glamorous. Look at that strapping trash bag ensemble, frizz and oh those manners!
Happy Running!
P.S. This is the April post for my work with the Nike Make Yourself Movement.
Haha LOVE that last photo!! Brilliant 🙂
Well done on acheiveing some of your goals!! Ooops, I don’t even REMEMBER most of my 2011 goals! 😛 I’d better go and look back at them now…!
you’re kicking ass and taking names straight through 2011. i love it. and i’ll definitely be showing up on your door step next time i’m in the bay area!
Awesome goals and progress towards them! Good luck this weekend!
I just did a similar post about checking back on my goals (but for a professional blog, not mine). I’m about to run my marathon in a week and a half – check. But my goal was 2 marathons and a tri this year, so I’ve got some work ahead of me. My goal is hopefully before my wedding…but we’ll see.
I’m making a goal right now. Don’t let wedding planning drive my nuts. Need to work on this one. Every time I check something off my list – I add 12 to it. You’re wedding must be getting so close – lucky! Where are you going on your honeymoon???
Try dailymile.com to track your miles. I’ve been using it for a little while, and it’s really easy and fun!
Looks like you’ve already achieved a lot in 2011! I’m sure the rest of the year will be just as successful for you 🙂 Best of luck at the Big Sur this weekend!
Emily’s comment about taking names is right on, haha I love that phrase. You are indeed doing awesome on your goals, seems like you are just tearing through them! It seems like you have basically met all of them. As for your question about a fast half marathon – it seemed like the Surf City Half marathon that you ran in February was perfect for you – maybe run that race again next year and do a training plan targeted at that race? It seemed like the race did go perfect for you, but maybe you can cut a little bit of time off.
As for my 2011 goals, unfortunately I’ve achieved none of them so far. Most importantly, I’m injured and can’t even run right now – boo.
Great picture! And, congrats on your goal progress. I make goals, but i’ve sort of lost sight of my 2011 ones. You’ve inspired me to dig them up & monitor my progress a bit more. Nice work!
My goals for the summer are to run my first 5K (May 14), complete my first sprint triathlon (June 26), complete my first Olympic triathlon (August 28). I am also training for my first half marathon October 15
You are doing a GREAT job on your goals girl! Keep knocking them off… There are LOTS of flat half marathons in the fall too 🙂
But sorry to tell you Q1 ended 3/31 😉 I only know since my life revolves around quarters lol.
Great job on your goals! You are such a big reason why I am staying so motivated. Thanks for all of your honest and insightful words, I’m so happy I found your blog!
This reminded me that I need to revisit my goals and take more photos of bagels in my mouth 😉 PS we could do a swim lesson after SFM? I am swimmy, afterall!
Congrats on doing so well with your goals.. that’s fantastic!!
eeeek!!!! my wheels are turning! <3
Way to go! Love that last shot of you. 😉
You’re doing such a great job Page! Especially on being positive and living each moment to the fullest. Take it from someone with an outsiders perspective. It shines through in the your posts. I really like the idea of a check in post. I think I’m going to do one!
If your still looking for a Half Marathon course that is flat and fast you should check out San Jose Rock & Roll. Considering I wasn’t able to get into NWM I will be doing Rock & Roll. It is 2 weeks before NWM. Not sure if its too close but figured I would mention it. Happy running =0)
