Yesterday, the lucky winners of two of the largest and best races out there were announced. Those of you who scored a spot – congrats! Those who didn’t – don’t cry – I have great news to help you out!
Right here on this lil’ blog you can win a guaranteed spot into THIS YEAR’s Nike Women’s Full or Half Marathon on October 16th. Yes, a guaranteed spot and a opportunity to come to California so we can run, eat, chillax, and you know, do the kind of things cool kids do.
20,000 runners toe the start line in Union Square and make their way through San Francisco’s iconic sights. You can smell the Boudin’s bread radiate throughout the street as you breeze through the first few miles; Golden Gate Park is always lush with its color and ripe with challenging hills, and the the first time you see Ocean Beach from the course is simply breathtaking. In its eight-year tenure, it has been made quite the name for itself…but I’m pretending it has nothing to do with the finisher’s necklace designed by Tiffany & Co. (which is handed out by strapping young lads in tuxes). Ya, no, that probably has nothing to do with why so many people love it.
I ran the half multiple times (my first in 2005) and my mom has run the full! I even have old school photos from over the years to prove it:
My mom finishing the full last year.
All of the runners’ names are on the NikeTown wall in Union Square.
Holy old school! I’m not quite sure what is happening here.
Finish at Ocean Beach with Chicken Face.
So here’s the deal…
If you want to run a great race this fall and missed out on the lottery, fear not. As part of my work with Nike Women, I have one highly coveted spot in the Nike Women’s full or half marathon to giveaway!
To enter, simply tweet what you love the most about running and include both @NikeWomen and @PageSpicer in your tweet.
That’s it. Easy shmeezy. The winner will still be responsible for the race entry fee, but will score a guaranteed spot in the 2011 race. The lucky winner will be picked Friday 10 a.m. PST/ 1 p.m. EST.
So what are you still doing here? GO TWEET!
Good Luck & Happy Running!
**sigh** I would love to win a spot in the Nike Womens Marathon this year. C’mon, what sounds awesomer than a bunch of hunky fireman in tuxedos handing out Tiffany necklaces to the finishers? Am I right, or AM I RIGHT!? 🙂 BUT, come October 16 of this year, I’ll be about 8 1/2 months pregnant and I’m not so sure I’ll be in the best running or traveling shape. Maybe in 2012…
Great giveaway though and great blog! I’m glad that @katherinemccoy told me about it yesterday! Happy running!
I entered! So excited! 🙂
I’m doing Chicago the week before but next year would be awesome! I’ll sign up early and try to get in. You’re not doing Chicago are you?
I luckily got into the half via the lottery! I am really excited to do this race– my first time! It’s 3 weeks before NYC so I am treating it as a fun run for the experience 🙂
What an incredible giveaway! I just recently found your blog and am from the Bay Area but married a Canadian and am north now…love visiting home and running! It would be so meaningful to make the Women’s SF Marathon my first – all spots I love in CA! Just tweeted…thanks so much for this incredible giveaway! 😀 (@bonnielang)
Ahhh, how exciting is this? Hitting up Twitter now 🙂
Entered this morning!
I entered!! I was so sad this morning when I got my “you were not chosen” email from Nike. So excited now. Good luck everyone =0)
I did the NWM in 2008. It was my first marathon and one of my favorite running experiences EVER!! I would love the opportunity to do it again!!
what an awesome giveaway! hitting up twitter now!
Cute pictures! I love the one of you doing your muscle pose.
BTW, you should totally put an email subscription option on your blog! I’m old-school and read blogs that way! Maybe one day I’ll use Google Reader…
so amazing! love the pics! and sad that chicago is on 10/9 …. not sure i can make that quick of a turnaround… yet. this race is definitely on my radar. xo
Thanks so much for the great giveaway. Excited that there is still hope for those of us who were “declined”.
That looks like so much fun! I would enter but… well, I’m still new to running lol!
awww, fudge. I don’t know how to tweet. or more accurately, I’ve never been to twitter (is it a site? geeez) nor made an account.
Can I ask…I understand that this race is a BIG DEAL to some people, at least according to my facebook feed yesterday in which 20 girls were spastically happy about getting in…and I’m wondering what the hype is all about. Is it that’s its all women? that it’s Nike? is the course amazing? is it the name on the slab of concrete?
Ok, so I entered, but I also just learned how to Tweet. If you do not have mine, can you let me know?
Fun! I think I’ll pass, but this one is definitely on my list. How cute that your mama ran 26.2 and had a blast…like mother, like daughter! Good luck this weekend Page!
Very Nice! I especially like the pics!
