Whew…is it just me or did it take light-years for Friday to get here? The good news is that it’s finally here and week one of the “Get Wedding & SF Half Ready” is well on its way. I’ve been pretty heads-down in work and wedding planning, but here’s a look at the little things that made this week fabulous.
Thanks to some inspiration from Aron, I finally completed my marathon and half-marathon bib frame! I have a couple separate frames for the big marathons that will hang on the side, but hey, one step at a time people.
I’ve said it before, but I just want to reiterate how madly in love I am with the free Nike Training Club iPhone app. Seriously, Chicken Face has some competition I love it that much. I started using it again to help prepare for the big day and I can honestly say that I did more squats and lunges in one workout than I did training for Boston. Ok, ok, I’ll spare you my ode to NTC, but you can check out my earlier review of the app here.
This is a horrible photo, but HEY, look who started joining me at the gym! He wasn’t very happy when I tried to snap his photo as I was in mid-crunch.
Trying too eke out three, horrible, measly push-ups (no girl style allowed!) with Chicken Face laughing at me may be embarrassing, but I’m determined to show my noodle arms who’s boss!
This photo probably won’t mean much to you guys, but my aunt posted this on her Facebook page the other day and I immediately had to steal it. It’s a photo of my mom and her family when she was in her teenage years (maybe in the 60s or 70s; I’m not sure). It stopped me in my tracks because here I am, going about my life focusing on my goals, running and my career, but rarely do I genuinely stop and really look back at my family and how we all came together. This photo now holds a special place in my heart as my grandparents passed away at a very young age and I’ve never seen a photo with the entire family together. If anything, go find a photo of your parents’ families. Post it, keep it private, or just look at it. Whatever you do, it’s a welcome hint into our parents’ yesteryears.
Happy Running!
Love that photo of your family! I was missing my grandparents terribly the other day, but looking through old photos and letters made me feel more connected 🙂
I really like the bib collage you made! I want to make one once I have run enough races to complete one
I love the bib frame! I have just been taping them onto the back of my closet door but could probably use some creativity to display them 🙂 I wish the NTC app came for Android, too 🙁 I’d definitely download it. Adorable picture of your mom’s family–which one is she? I love old photographs!
Is your mama the one on the left? She looks like Caroline!
What a sweet bib framing you’ve got! I have a cork board right now with an assortment of medals pinned on, but it looks so half-assed because I have not a creative joint in my body.
Way to go with the pushups! Maybe you should try the 100 pushup challenge? I did it for like 3 weeks before discovering bodypump…the two couldn’t co-exist. Goody-bye pushup challenge. My fiance is doing it right now, and he’s getting stronger.
You’ll be rockin’ those pushups soon enough! 🙂 I think I can do like 6 before dying.
I pin my bibs on the outside wall of my cubicle. Not going to lie, it’s totally bragging. But it has also been a great conversation starter!
That is awesome that you did your race bib collage! That looks great! I see the Boston and Big Sur bib is missing, I assume that get’s its separate holder? haha
lol at Lea Michele’s workout, I love Glee!
That’s great that you found the old pic of your family. I love looking at pics like that, I found a couple old pics of my parents family from like 1950 or so, it was crazy to look back and try to pick out who people are. I also found a postcard from 1925 of Minneapolis of my great-grandparent sending it to my grandparent. Even though there are so many pictures digitally now, I still think it’s important to print out pics and make photobooks. I’m going to use snapfish to make a photobook of my Europe trip, that way at least I have a hardcover book, haha
It DID take forever to get here! And what a neat bib frame, I love it!
after my half this weekend i will be doing the nike training app to buff up for my big day too! 🙂
Cute bib frame! I did something similar but hung the medals in it too so that the bibs are kinda like a backdrop to the medals.
Hope you’re feeling okay after the NTC app. After doing the Magnum workout on Wednesday, I could barely walk on Thursday. I think I felt worse than the day after a marathon! Great job!
I love the Bib frame, it looks great! I love that you and CF are hitting the gym together 🙂 I also 100% need an iphone so I can use cool workout apps like this one, bahhh.
LOVE the bib frame.
I can’t even do non-girly push ups correctly so good job for 3!!
Oh my god I love the bib frame. Must do this ASAP. What an awesome way to display them!
OMG I love your bib collage! Everyone is always talking about how they display their medals, the poor bibs get lost in the shuffle. It’s so nice to see a great display of bibs like this! I actually scrapbook all of my bibs with items and pictures from the race. Now I’m regretting now displaying them along with my medals. What are the dimensions of this frame? It looks pretty sizable. Great job!
Not sure what size exactly, but it’s just the “Poster” frame that I got at Target 🙂
