A while back, I posted about the races that I was considering and your outpouring of feedback was immensely helpful (this is my heart smiling). I consulted my running sensei (a.k.a. Aron) and am totally stoked for the rest of 2011 (2012 plans are still in the work). Without further ado, I present to you the rest of 2011 racing schedule:
The San Francisco Half Marathon: July 31, 2011
You’ve heard me talk about the SF marathon before and not only do I love it because it’s in my backyard, the views are unlike anything you’ve ever seen (hello…running across the Golden Gate Bridge!) and I’m an ambassador, but there are SO MANY of you that are coming out for this race! If you are coming, let me know because I want to see your smiling face!
A note on my decision to run the half marathon: this race is the weekend after my wedding. As much as I am getting marathon envy, I know that I have other priorities this summer and I want to make sure that I don’t freak the hell out because I’m training and not doing my wedding duties.
The Nike Women’s Half Marathon: October 16, 2011
As part of my role in the Nike Make Yourself Movement, they were nice enough to give me an entry to this race! Thus, I’ll be headed back out to the roads of SF to earn a special little blue box. HOLLA!
The Two Cities Marathon (i.e. Fresno): November 6, 2011
So here’s where things get tricky. I went back and forth as to whether or not I should do this race or another one I was considering, but in the end, Fresno won because of all the great things I heard about it. Small race, close to home (don’t have to buy a bazillion dollar plane ticket anywhere), flat and fast (I love those double Fs), and the swag is supposed to be off the heezy. This is going to be my “race” marathon with an intention to break my PR and achieve new goals. But we can dish about that earlier.
The Rock ‘N Roll Las Vegas Marathon: December 4, 2011
You’ve probably heard the buzz about this one already, but Skinny Runner is hosting the Urban Runner Blogging Summit there as well and I’m totally amped to go with Aron, Kristin and a few other bloggers (I don’t want to giveaway their big announcement, so it’ll have to be a secret for now). Now we just have to cross our fingers that it doesn’t sell out and we can actually register! I highly suggest that you come too so we can all get our Vegas faces on together.
So there you have it folks. I’m more pumped than ever for these races as they represent a variety of racing styles…some for fun, some to PR. Will you be at any of these races? Holla if you are!
Happy Running!
I’m excited about the races you are doing!! I am also glad you are only doing the first half of Nike – have you ever done the full?? I would have been so thankful to bow out after the first half and gotten my jewelry when I ran the full in 2005, thank you very much. As a recently married woman, you may have to shy your eyes from the cute guys who hand them out 😉
I’m seriously considering RnR Vegas (half) – the time limit may catch this slow poke. If job/finances can allow it, I’m in!
Yay!!!! I’ll be in Fresno and it’ll be my first marathon (yikes!) and I live 45 minutes away from the marathon start (Merced). It should be a great weekend! I’ll also be in Vegas, woot!!
I have yet to travel farther than about 3 hours for a race. I used to travel for track and bball in college so I guess I am just taking a break. Looks like you have a full schedule of races!
great race plans all around! especially vegas baby!
Great schedule! The Nike Women’s marathon is still one of my favorite race experiences ever!!!
Hey Page! I am running RnR Vegas as well! Woohoo! Glad we will get to meet again!
I love how you used the word holla multiple times above, I love that word, haha
Well, assuming that I am healthy in late July I’m planning on doing the SF half marathon, so hopefully I will see you there.
I bet you will do great in the Fresno marathon, I can attest that the race has zero hills after driving through Fresno, haha
Have fun at the Vegas marathon and blogger conference!
I might be running the SF half! Super excited!
I’m running both the SF half, and the NWM half. I’m so excited!
I am hoping to be a Vegas this year! Just waiting for registration to open up!
I’m doing the Nike half marathon & it’s my first trip to San Fransico! Holla!
I will be at Vegas!!! Super excited about that one.
I’m running NYC on the same day that you run Fresno. I’m considering coming to Vegas, too! Crazy, I know … but I really want to go and so many people are going. So, now I have to figure out this budget thing since I’m in FL and NYC and LV are only a month apart and thousands of miles away 🙂
Such a fun schedule!! I am REALLLLLY excited for SF 🙂 I’m feel so much better after conquering crazy hills in my half this past weekend. I need to email you and Aron regarding restaurants/things to see etc. I also might be asking CF to keep Foxy from going crazy while we are all being nerds at blogger meet ups over the weekend 🙂
I was thinking about doing the Las Vegas Half (Katy is already registered, yay!), but I think I will probably pass since I need to be responsible and save money vs flying all over for races…however, I will probably change my mind and register once the registration goes up in price…so I guess maybe I should just admit defeat and go for it now?? 🙂 The Nike Women’s marathon is on my list for the little blue box and another trip out to SF…but again, I must pace myself!
I can’t wait to see how you do in all of your races! You’re on such a roll girl 🙂 PS I hope the hip is cooperating!
Ummm I guess I like making smilie faces!
Looks like a great finish to 2011 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your race schedule. I’ll be at the Rock ‘N Roll Vegas half, maybe I’ll see you there!
What a great schedule… so exciting!
Yay – we have a few of the same races! Can Aron be my running sensei too? I am in such a quagmire about which races to run this Fall. Fresno is on the list – argh – I can’t decide! I ran Vegas 2 years ago – may I recommend a recovery spa day at Caesars Palace the after the race? Significant discounts on weekdays and their Arctic Room is amazing!
Oh man! I kind of wish I was running Las Vegas this year instead of last year. It’s a night race now too! How cool!
Sounds like you have plenty of awesome races ahead! Oh man, maybe I’ll try and make it to Vegas! Never been, but sounds like it will be an awesome blogger meetup!
Ha! Probably a good decision to stick with the half marathon after the wedding, although if anyone could do it, you could! 🙂
You are going to be one very busy girl!!
see you in SF!
Yay for Fresno!!! I am aiming to make that an A race for me, too!!
