I wish I had a running “Wedding Wednesday” theme or something like that, but alas, I don’t. Instead, I’ll just blast you with my wedding nonsense as the big day is just around the corner. Stay with me here…we’ll return to the regularly scheduled running programming shortly!
So, as you may know, I like to turn to you all to crowdsource many of my wedding decisions. After going to the final fitting for my new dress (it fits perfectly…yay!) and draping on the veil, sash and all of the necessary goodies, I realized that the plan for my hair may no longer work. The original plan was to do long, tousled waves for the ceremony, then pull it back into a low pony for the reception – I even had my trial run already and was set. However, with the increased weight of the dress (it’s much heavier than my old one) and the possibility for heat and/or wind on the museum rooftop, I’m afraid that was meant to look like a Victoria Secret “I just woke up looking like this” look, may turn into, “Did that girl even try to do her hair for her wedding day?” I’ve brought along all of my magazines for inspiration today…they better hold hair gold within!
But I’d like to turn to you, dear friends…what should I do with my hair? I don’t want anything that looks like I’ve shellacked a bottle of hairspray, or any tightly curled ringlets. But instead, something that looks modern yet classic, and can handle dancing like a crazy woman. If you’ve seen any great photos, share the link, or feel free to email me at twentysixandthensome[at]gmail.com.
Thanks so much for your help and happy running!
You would look so gorgeous with it down, in romantic curls. Or a romantic bun, with pieces hanging out of the bun and framing your face! That would definitely stand the test of hours of running, er, I mean wedding dancing! 😉
I think with your long, beautiful hair, it would be nice to have at least some of it down. What about having half of it up, with some gentle curls, for the ceremony and pictures? For the reception, you might be able to take the bottom half and put it in some kind of updo with two buns (thinking along the lines of the first picture here: http://www.longhaircommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72247). That way, you control the look of it when you’re dancing, and a veil wouldn’t hide your hairdo during the ceremony. I just think having your loooong copper hair down will be so beautiful with your wedding dress, and I like when brides opt out of the whole tight updo with tight ringlets thing. Let us know what you pick! I can’t wait to see how everything turns out.
I am looking for a pic from my friends wedding a couple weeks ago. She has really long hair but they put it all up and curled (nothing hanging down or bangs or any curly wispy things hanging around her face) She had a tiara in the front of it and her veil went underneath it and down her back. It was very classy looking but still modern. Also it was really hot and her hair stayed up all night and even through dancing all night.

Not sure if this link will work or not.
I don’t know who you wrote this for but you helped a brtoher out.
Wear it down! You always look your very prettiest with its down. Even when if its wind-tossled and all over the place, it’s beautiful
My little sister got married last September and she too has gorgeous long hair. Her initial plan was down with just loose curls, but it ended up being 85 degrees out that day and she decided to put it half up to keep some of the weight off her shoulders.

Luckily for her, the woman who did her hair also came to the reception. She ended up pinning the rest up into a low curled bun because it was just too darn hot. You’re stressing and sweating on your wedding day without heat, you don’t need to add 10 pounds of hair resting on you!
I’d vote half up for ceremony, low ponytail for reception – similar to the original plan just allowing for a little bit more air!

found a picture of the updo. Sorry for the odd picture – it is the only one I could find! We’re a weird bunch, my family!
I thought the low, off-center bun from your sister’s wedding was gorgeous. It looked like it was loose enough that it wasn’t “done” but done enough that it looked like a style and would hold up against dancing. Can’t wait to see what you end up with! xo
I don’t have any pics but I love the idea of having hair in a loose side bun (with romantic pieces framing your face) for the ceremony and then letting it down for reception (ideal for the shake your head dancing!)
I am going with a low bun thing with curls. Today is my best friends wedding and I am sort of using it as a pre trail for me. We will see how it works.
