Hello from Chicago! Have I told you how much I love Chicago? No, well let me tell you now: I FRICKING LOVE CHICAGO.
I may be biased because this is the city where I BQ’d and had the most fantastic vacation with my then soon-to-be husband, but even the second time around I still love this city. It has everything you would want from an urban city, yet it’s big, clean and you feel like you’re on the ocean with the immense lake. People have told me, “Just wait until winter, you won’t love it as much then.” I pretend not to listen.
While on this last leg of my work trip I’ve been working at the Chicago marathon expo. Tomorrow I’ll be at VW’s Mile 8 Tailgate cheering you all on!
Here’s a look at my time in Chicago thus far and GOOD LUCK to everyone racing tomorrow!
This morning I made my way out for a quick five miles on the lakefront path. Not only is it gorgeous, but who needs to site see during the day when you can run and explore? The city is littered with fast and fit runners this time of year and definitely provides the extra motivation to put your running a-game on.
As much as I would love to run all around this city, the fact of the matter is that I still had to work the expo. But a little work didn’t stop me from exploring one of the largest expos I’ve ever seen. Brooks had a genius event display and I even won a free pair of shoes! But more on that next week…
Just chillin’ with my peeps.
Silly, Ryan. He told me he doesn’t like looking straight into cameras. I also met Hal Higdon and Dean Karnazes but their photos? Not so hot.
As is mandatory for any trip to Chicago, I indulged in the equivalent of crack for any twenty-something woman; however, I won’t divulge the exact number of cupcakes consumed.
I’m off to make the most of the evening before I have to hit the sack and prepare my vocal cords for pure obliteration via race cheering tomorrow.
Happy Running and GOOD LUCK!
Is that a breast cancer awareness cupcake?? I should probably eat one of those. Only so I can, you know, do my part to support breat cancer patients. No other reason.
POST THE PHOTOS. the people have spoken.
Did Ryan Hall really talk to you!?
I’ve never been to Chicago and I feel like this is a travesty. Also, I think Oprah loves Sprinkles. It may have even been one of Oprah’s favorite things.
I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time, but had to comment since you’re in my city! I hope you had a wonderful time cheering on the runners – the marathon is one of my favorite events here. Enjoy the rest of your stay!
wow super jealous of all the running celebs you got to meet that’s awesome!
Awesome you were in Chicago during the marathon expo! I’ve only been to the city once back in 2005, but loved it as well. Great that you got to meet Ryan Hall!
