This past week wasn’t necessarily one that I would write home about. Scratch that, I would write home and probably complain to my mom about my trivial issues including my hip that will most likely force me to not run the Nike Women’s Half marathon come this Sunday (still TBD).
Apparently, my excessive amount of time on a plane last week really messed with my hip and has sidelined my running. I went to a new chiropractor for some intense (and not cheap) ART and let me tell you…it hurt so good. Plus, with Chicken Face busy at work and school, I feel like it’s been a hamster wheel of a week.
However, even hamsters have highlights in their day and below are the few things that really made me appreciate life, even during the monotonous times.
After a long work trip, I was welcomed home with flowers, a card and surprise Mochi ice cream from Chicken Face. #swoon
We all know how frustrating it can be to have to stop running for an injury, but in place of running, I’ve alternated swimming and yoga every day this week. While I have anxiety about not getting as sweaty as I would like, I know that it’s a safe and smart alternative. Plus, I’m actually starting to enjoy my slow and steady swimming.
One of the last things I did in Chicago before I left was run on the lakefront path. Look at that view! Look at the sunrise! It will go down in my book as one of my all-time favorite places to run.
And because you can’t go to Chicago without getting some deep dish…
Happy Running!
So what I actually said out loud when I say the flower pic was, “Ohhhh, that’s cute!” And, of course, I have to leave a plug for Bikram yoga – you’ll get sweatier than during a run!!
Hope your hip is okay! I’ve struggled with my hip before and it sucks. Is yours a muscle problem or a joint problem?
Crossing my fingers that hip gets it’s act together!!!!
Hate injuries! I hope your hip heals fast….but I’m glad you’re being smart (swimming is GREAT xtraining) and you’ll be surprised at how good of shape you can stay in by xtraining. Happy swimming for now!
holy cow. that pizza. i really hope your hip starts feeling better soon. 🙁
I love ART! Hope it helps your hip soon!!!!
Fingers crossed for your hip. Is the Nike women’s half/marathon the one where you get the Tiffany necklace at the end?!? I think that is worth more than my entire collection of Beanie Babies now…
that’s so sweet that he left you flowers!
hope your hip feels better soon!
Hopefully this rest on your hip is for the better. I know how hard it is to not run (I think frustrated is more like it), but swimming is an awesome replacement. I just started and try to go once a week. I am absolutely horrible at it and somehoe get a great workout out of it.
Giordanos is amazing, so jealous of everyone that was in Chicago last weekend and ate there
thinking good thoughts about your hip!
that pizza is to die for!
I saw your doppelganger on the lakefront path today during my run! I almost shouted “PAGE!!” but then I relized that 1) you have no idea who I am and if it had been you, I would have looked like a crazy person and 2) it wasn’t actually you.
I’m from SE Wisconsin and I have never really been to Chicago. Going to have to change that soon and will definitely need to bring the Brooks along for a run–looks stunning!
I hope your hip shapes up fast!
Love those pictures of my favorite city. 🙂
Ohhhhhhhhhh Chicago pizza will ALWAYS have my heart.. And I’m so glad you are able to still workout in some fashion.. Yay 🙂
