Quick – look over there!
It’s the week that I should have had. Oh damn, it was fleeting and instead we’re stuck with the worst week yet, thanks to the food poisoning/virus from hades. Nevertheless, here’s a look at week 11 training.
Our office admin team passed out Valentine’s to the employees.
I wouldn’t call this week “WILD” by any means.
Mon., 2/13: Swim (a.m.) / Run (p.m.)
Started the week off strong with a 2,100 yard swim and 7.4 mile run. Little did I know what was about to happen come Tuesday.
Tues., 2/14: Run / Core
I started the morning with a blissful 5.3 mile tempo run and some good core work. But come 2 p.m. and DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN… enter food poisoning and what doctors would later tell me is a nasty virus.
Wed., 2/15: Sick
Keeping me company.
I got in a good workout laying on the couch doing nothing but sleeping and watching the Food Network. My appetite was obliterated and I had zero energy to even stand up. Why do I get sick so often?!?
Thurs., 2/16: Sick
I was definitely on the mend, but still not 100 percent. I decided to work from home and regain my energy.
This video I made while testing a new iPhone app for work (Action Movie FX) was the highlight of my day. Muahahahahaha!
Fri., 2/17: Run (like an idiot)
Like an absolute idiot, I woke up pretending that the minimal energy I had was because I hadn’t eaten much in the past two days. Genius move, I know. I joined some running friends for 11 miles and by the time I got home, the room was literally spinning. Again…BAD IDEA! I ended up going to urgent care to see what exactly was going on. More rest was the doctor’s order.
Sat. & Sun., 2/18-2/19: Sick
Coach Paul always reminds me that resting is critical in order to overcome any bug that your body is battling. With my sister and her boyfriend in town for the weekend, it was easy to adhere his advice.
My appetite finally came back and I was welcomed with a taco salad the size of a small child. Success!
I closed out week 11 with:
4 hours and 33 minutes of training:
2,100 yards swimming
0 miles cycling
23 miles running
45 minutes core strengthening
Needless to say, I’m ready to get back into the swing of things. How did your week go?
Happy Running!
Sooo I’m a long time reader and very very rare commenter andddddddddddddd I just had to tell you that I literally laughed SO loud when I watched Lola blow up….like….almost DIED laughing.
quite the bummer to be sick, but sometimes rest is best! better now than later, though, right? glad you’re feeling better!
Mine was swamped with work. I wonder if the stomach virus is going around. I spent the weekend with my bf’s sister who had a stomach virus. She couldn’t keep anything down.
Btw, I’m jealous of your gone running sign.
Such a total drag to be sick…especially on VD! Nevermind the whole training thing 😛
But the good news is that you finally got the rest and are getting way better and will be totally chomping at the bit to go, go, GO now! You are super awesome…even if you fake-blow-up your adorable pup 😉
Your video is hysterical!!!!
It is taking forever for the video to load on the plane but I can’t wait to watch it later!!!
Hey, still more training than me even when sick!
Oh my God, I’m laughing so hard at that video!! I was not expecting that at all. My stomach hurts! hahahah
awww, boo on being sick, but hope you are feeling better this week!
Just tried Move Action FX.. oh my word… best app everrrr!!
Aw don’t get down on yourself for 1 week off. You have SO long til your race, you can afford the rest. Don’t worry!!! 🙂
Holy crap I’m glad I watched that video BEFORE I showed Caitlyn! Watching Lola-Puppy blow up in front of her eyes might have resulted in some SERIOUS therapy!!
Take a breath – it’s a new week, new workouts, and all coaches build in “sick time” to their plans. You won’t be behind, and actually TAKING the rest now will make you stronger down the line. Sounds cliche, but true.
xoxo
I love the “Gone Running Will Return At…” clock!!
