We have a serious problem here folks — I still don’t have a name for my beloved baby!
(If you think naming your bike is childish, you can stop reading now.)
Earlier in the process when we were unsure if my bike of choice would come in more feminine colors, I seriously considered naming my bike Fred (here’s why). But when I got those perfect Tiffany-blue aero bars Fred flew right out the window – she was definitely a girl.
In my quest for Fred alternatives, I found very credible information for the most credible site ever: Wikipedia. Apparently, the female version of a Fred is a Doris! Who knew? When I think of the name Doris, I think of Betty White and she’s pretty bad ass, right?
My baby isn’t too feminine, likes to make new friends, wants to play with the boys and would rather be looked over than over looked. Quick! What should we name her?
Have a great weekend and happy running!
I think you should name her “Doris”! I love old-fashioned names.
Also, odd tidbit: I am jealous that your headbands stay on your head. Maybe it’s the texture of my hair, or the shape of my noggin, but my headbands always slip off right after I put them on. Even the headbands with the plastic-y grippers.
how bout ‘Gorgeous’! then every time you see it, you can say “hello gorgeoussss” Dang that bike is beautiful … Enjoy your weekend! š
Lloa (Lola letters)
Xena (warrior princess)
Gigi
Lami (a city in Fiji with water the color of your bike)
Bianca (origin means white/pure)
Ivy
Quinn
Willow
Zara
Huffy (after the old Huffy bikes, AWESOME!)
OK, I’ll stop š
I vote for Audrey like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s since that is the color!
Freida/Frida? Is that like a female version Fred?
Ha, or Wilma, like Fred and Wilma Flinstone?
I like the Ivy suggestion above…sounds tough but can also be girly (and never prissy).
Also, old-timey names seem solid — Doris, Agnes, Thora … Winnifred??
Wilma’s a good one! What about Babbs?
Since I’m obsessed with Hunger Games, I’ll go with Katniss!
Wilma is cracking me up — great idea!
Or there’s always Tiffany.
Maybe Irene, since it sounds a bit like Ironman?
Or Betty, since that ties to Betty White and Doris?
Does Wikipedia have a male/female equivalent for every name!? I’m gonna go patent that idea if it isn’t already a site. Page = Drake. I dunno.
I think all bikes are boys. Same as how little kids think all dogs are boys and all cats are girls.
OOH FUN GAME.
My vote: Quinn (first name that came to my head after you said ‘QUICK!’)
But Wilma is a fantastic idea, too.
i like tiffany for the color! i still can’t come up with a good name for my bike…and mine doesn’t have any pretty colors to offer inspiration!
How about Winona? It’s got the word ‘win’ in it?
What about “Betty Blue” ?
Bek x
What about Holly as in Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, since she’s Tiffany blue? Also “Golightly” is appropriate for a light and graceful yet super hardcore racer which she will be with you at the helm!
I’d name her “Spicer” ! Keep the name alive.
It served you well for many years.
These suggestions are so creative I’m not sure mine’s a good one anymore, but I’ll throw it out there any way… I vote for “Dorry”- it’s a little bit Doris from the female version of Fred and a little Dora the Explorer for all the places you’ll go on her and all the adventures you’ll have together and then a little unique and individual since she’s all yours.
Of course, the suggestion for Holly is always a good one… š
Norma Jean
Or… Thatcher. After the Iron Lady…
