Given that it’s Thursday, I suppose I should get with it and recap the previous week (I know you were just dieeeeeeeing to know what I did). But I can’t get on with it until I show you the most adorable photo ever. Wait for it…
Now on to the light/marker week that was week 19.
Mon., 4/9: Swim w/ 800 marker
A measly 1,800 meter swim as I completely overslept. However, I also did the mandatory 800 marker that I do every 4-6 weeks to track progress. The past two 800 marker tests were a bit frustrating because I didn’t see any improvement, but thankfully I chopped 15 seconds off of my marker this time. It’s nothing fantastic, but I’ll take it!
Tues., 4/10: Run w/ 800 marker
This week also had an 800 marker as part of the 5.5 mile run and this is where my heart really smiled as I chopped off a minute plus from my previous markers. It’s important to note that the run marker isn’t about how fast you can run it, but rather how long it takes to run the 800 while maintaining a specific heart rate.
Wed., 4/11: Swim
I split up my Thursday double day and did my swim today, which was supposed to be a rest day. 2,300 meters (my longest swim to date) and felt great…well, minus the creeper in the lane next to me. No sir, I do not want to talk to you while I am in my two-piece.
Thurs., 4/12: Cycle
Nice and sweaty trainer ride, entertainment brought to you by Smash. What am I going to watch after this season ends?!
Fri., 4/13: Run
If you tell your coach that you want to break 1:30, he’s going to give you workouts that will help you do so. Enter this run: half at easy pace, the other half at half-marathon pace.
Sat., 4/14: Cycle / Transition Run
Half Moon Bay ride day! I love riding in HMB; Chicken Face joins me, he studies and walks Lola while I ride, then he meets me afterward so we can make a day of it.
It was going to be perfect, that is until I got separated from the group, thought I missed a turn, ended up backtracking and going the wrong way, forgetting to restart my watch, then meeting up with a group member whose back brake completely broke and I decided to ride back with him a different way. We ended up along highway one white-knuckling the whole damn thing as I swear the wind was going to blow me off the road and into oncoming traffic. It was not my faster (or safest) ride, nor was it a proud moment. I’m not even sure how long or far I was riding, but I finished it off with a 15 minute transition run.
Sun., 4/15: Rest
See it hiding in the shadow?! I still don’t think it’s a good idea that my mom stayed long enough to snap this photo.
I closed out week 19 with:
7 hours and 28 minutes of training:
4,483 yards swimming
63 miles cycling
15.7 miles running
What is the scariest thing you’ve run into while running/hiking/whatever?
