With 20 weeks of base building under my belt and training just beginning to kick in for Vineman, I know that things are about to get crazy. And while I have undertaken these lofty athletic goals, I can’t forget that I’m now a wife (!) and a puppy mommy, and it will always be my number one goal to spend as much time as possible with my new family.
Thus, for a bit of both physical and mental rest, I opted out of all training for three days and spent some much needed R&R with Chicken Face and Lola in central California (Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach).
We walked along the pier, rested on the beach, went to the aquarium, ate amazing food, lounged by the pool, dragged Chicken Face to the Big Sur marathon expo just to look around (it was coincidentally the same weekend) and most importantly, we were just together.
I’m already missing the weekend.
Have a great week and happy running!
You are beautiful! I love the picture of you taking a picture because your hair looks really extra nice!
It`s good to take some days off for friends and/or family. Hope you had a great time! It sure looks like you did!
Ohhh what a perfect weekend! Glad you were able to do that!
That is a well deserved break. Having a little time off will pay off in less burn-out later in the season. Looks like a great weekend!
Looks like you had a great weekend. We have good friends who live in Monterey and I love visiting them. So fun down there.
That last picture is to die for!
Again: sunglasses. Wherever did you get that fabulous thing? 😉
Sorry for the delay! I actually got them at my eye doctor (they’re prescription). But I believe they are made by Entourage of 7. http://www.eof7.com/
Thanks Page! They look awesome. Totally looking into them now. 😉
hi page! i just found your blog and i am loving reading all your latest posts…i grew up in lafayette so much of the scenery in your bay area races/training runs/etc. looks familiar. i did my first sprint tri last summer and i think the swimming leg was in the reservoir you panic attack-ed (is that a verb?) in last week. anyway, its so fun to see my old digs since im now living in los angeles. im pretty sure we must’ve overlapped on a few races even though i have done most of my halfs in nyc (i did do the nike half in sf a year (or 2?) back). anyway, i cant wait to continue to read as you tackle the arizona ironman 🙂
Awesome! Thanks for the comment and kind words! Glad I can provide a taste of NorCal for ya 😉
good for you! looks like a wonderful little getaway : )
Oh you’re right. It is really important that we spend much time in our family even in our busy day. Glad you share this info. Oh is that your dog floating in the water?
Good for you!!! Sometimes you just need to stop. Beautiful pictures!!
So true!! I think it is a continuous process of working to balance like with work and family and also working out!
These pictures are so cute. Looks like you guys had a good time. And your little dog is adorbs.
Good for you! Sometimes that break is just what you, your body, and your mental game need.
Those pictures are phenomenal. What an incredible weekend!
You’re one smart cookie 🙂 And how much fun was that? Your honey, your puppy, otters and jellies…doesn’t get much better 🙂
Hi Page! I just found your blog through Ali’s blog and I’m so inspired by your posts! I’m a fairly new runner and I’m currently training for my first half marathon at the end of September. If that goes well I’m hoping to eventually work my way up to a marathon. I can’t even imagine doing an Ironman – maybe someday! Looking forward to reading more about your Ironman training as I work train for the half marathon. 🙂
LOVE the training/life balance. Sometimes you just gotta let go and relax, and it looks like you had an awesome time!
