Week 31 was all sorts of funk. With Monday off for Oakley and Wednesday off for the Fourth of July, anything outside of lying by a pool was unwelcome. But you know, life has a way of moving forward regardless of what we’d prefer, so here’s a look at week 31:
Mon., 7/2: Rest
My travel day home from Napa was a bit depressing. You mean I have to go back to real life now? Can I get a harumph?! (Bonus points if you name the movie.)
Tues., 7/3: Run/Core
This week was when my knee, hip and shoulder problems started to appear. Better safe than sorry so I went for a nice and easy five mile run, followed by core.
Later that night I met up with the girls for a little MAGIC MIKE! By the end of that movie all I could think about was “girrrrrrrrrrrrrrl, you better get him tested!” PSA: Don’t be fooled by those hips.
Wed., 7/4: Long Run
Happy birthday, America! I kicked off the hot holiday with a 14 mile run with my friend Corinne through the Livermore vineyards. Corinne is fantastic because she knows that I always need to stop and use the restroom within the first five miles and doesn’t mind me taking ridiculous photos. SMILE, CORINNE!
Post long run, it was time to suit up and hit the pool. There were some intellectually stimulating games and conversation that involved red and blue Solo cups – we, um, talked about religion and politics the entire time.
Thurs., 7/5: Easy Trainer Ride
After Wednesday’s long ride, the knee was throbbing so I just got on the trainer and spun for 50 minutes. No surprise that the Kardashians kept me company. But in case you weren’t aware – BREAKING BAD IS BACK! If you haven’t watched it, get on Netflix asap and watch the first four Seasons as the 5th season starts Sunday. Oh, and even if you don’t like the first season, keep with it. I promise you won’t regret it.
Fri., 7/6: Open Water Swim
I’m not proud to say that my anxiety came back during this swim. F. But as I’ve told myself in the past, I just have to keep swimming. Go slow, be calm, and just keep swimming.
I also worked from home on Friday and can’t resist sharing this photo of my personal assistant. Her shorthand is superb.
Sat., 7/7: Group Ride
I’m growing quite fond of my little weekend group ride family. We joke, we give each other crap, and we just have fun riding bikes. In case you were curious, this is now what I think about all the time:
Sun., 7/8: Rest
Ahhhh…I did take some time to deck out my helmet with a bit of Oakley love.
I closed out week 31 with:
6 hours and 13 minutes of training:
2,600 yards swimming
41.5 miles cycling
19 miles running
15 minutes strength training
How was your Fourth of July? Anyone else see Magic Mike? Any Breaking Bad fans out there?
Happy Running!
I have plans to see Magic Mike on Friday! I literally see 5 movies a year so this is big. I hope it lives up to my expectations – bad plot, lots of amazing shots of Channing Tatum’s body.
HUGE BB fan. Cannot wait for Sunday.
OMG. I LOVE breaking bad! #suchanawesomeshow
Magic Mike was nice… but I agree, get tested! haha
YES to Breaking Bad. I cannot wait for Sunday!
Sorry, I didn’t know the OWS anxiety returned a bit during our swim on Friday. Don’t worry about the Vineman swim, if you start to get anxious, you can always stop and stand up. I think the entire swim is only about 4 feet deep. The turnaround is especially shallow so you might even have to get up and run a bit which will be a big asset for you.
Gah, I’m jealous. I want to watch Channing in some sweet stripping clothes. Or the lack of them I guess.
