With my 2013 goal of welcoming adventure, I’m uber-excited for a few really big ones that we already have planned!
On Friday, I’m being shipped off to Salt Lake City to meet-up with my fellow Oakley Women Ambassadors! It’s a ski and snowboarding weekend and given my current ankle status, I plan on taking up the official title of “Queen Lodge Bunny” to ensure I don’t re-injure my ankle. Regardless, I can’t wait to meet up with some of the great friends I made last year in Napa.
After Salt Lake, I’m going to head down south to Mexico for a little fun in the sun. We haven’t had a vacation since our honeymoon (you know, the honeymoon with the hurricane where we were forced to stay in our hotel rooms the entire time), so I can’t wait to plop my lazy ass on the beach and do nothing but kill my liver a little more.
In addition to these two escapes, Chicken Face and I will be officially changed our names to Mr. and Mrs. Dirty Hippie. That’s right, Chicken Face is now the owner of a 1985 VW Westfalia, a.k.a. the dirty hippie car, a.k.a. the “Westy,” a.k.a. the “oh-my-god-I-can’t-believe-we-now-own-an-old-flowers-in-your-hair-camper-wagon.”
To be honest, Chicken Face was a super-husband in supporting me with my year-long quest (and emptying our wallets) for Ironman last year, and it was my turn to encourage him on a passion of his own. He’s excited to work on the car and we can’t wait to take it out in the wild. Summer plans include loading our bikes in the bike, camping in Yosemite and taking it wherever else we can ride and I can run.
Oh, and I suppose now is as good as time as ever to announce my big adventure of the year. It’s official:
What adventures do you have lined up?
Happy Running!
Oh my gosh the WESTIE! Mike has wanted one of those forever! So awesome!!!
(and of course YAY for Ironman Coeur d’Alene!)
YAY!!!! Congrats PAGE!!!! CDA is going to ROCK 🙂 Also, huge wife points to you for supporting CF in his VW Westfalia project 🙂 Foxy agrees too, which earning Foxy points is never easy. Go get it, girl!
Have fun on all your trips! And I’m so excited for this ironman! I can’t wait to follow along in this training to see you get to that start line. I’m sure all your mileage from IMAZ training is going to make this training even better! Can’t wait for this journey for you.
Not to be nosy but can I ask what resort and where you are staying at in Mexico. We are planning a trip for April and I’m looking for recommendations.
Congrats on the Ironman registration! I’m very excited to follow along! Our town is having their first half in July if interested…
I’m so happy for you! CDA will be awesome! I had my fingers crossed for you for Lake Tahoe but CDA will still be amazing! Have fun on your trips!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY CDA! Can’t wait to hear all about your adventures in travel and training!
Real hippies don’t drive Westies. They drive VW buses from the ’60’s. – nothing more recent than 1972. But I’m sure you two will put your pseudohippiemobile to adventurous use! And very excited to watch your IMCDA training. Have a great time both in the snow and on the sand – sounds pretty great!
best race ever. 🙂
Everything you wrote is so exciting!!
I can’t wait for CDA! I kno you’ll rock the training, and it’ll be great to meet you!
Secondly, the Oakley weekend sounds awesome, even though you’ll have to be a chalet bunny. And then Mexico will be amazing!
Lastly, I’m so jealous you guys got a Westy! We looked for one for ages and then finally bought an old trailer. We sold it this summer and just ended up buying a sweet mini van! It’s great for camping, and for throwing our bikes in the back and hitting the road for adventure. You guys will make some amazing memories in that thing!
Have a great couple trips, page!
I didn’t know you were going to SLC! How fun…have a blast! My big adventures for the new year are seeing where my blog takes me, traveling to the Caribbean, and hopefully a trip to Ireland for a white -Irish-beer drinking-Christmas!
xoxo
Glad to see you’re doing IM-CDA! I look forward to following your training!
Many awesome things coming up this year! CdA is AWESOME! Let me know if you need a place to stay. The house I rented last year was amazing and affordable!
CDA is awesome!! I’m glad you finally decided on your IM! Good luck with training! You WILL be an IRONMAN..in 2013!
That car’s badass! Totally a good choice by Chicken Face.
Good luck at IMCDA! I was really tempted to sign up but I missed the general entry and all that was left were the foundation slots. I registered for one of the HITS Triathlon events instead. Hope you are healing up nicely!
OMG a westy, I kinda love those. I can see you and chicken face traveling in style.
PS Yay for CDA, I thought you might choose Louisville b/c of the time trial swim start but good choice with CDA. All your AZ training will pay off for sure.
Ahh! So much potential for amazing things in this post 🙂 <3 Happy 2013!
You may have already followed Rachel’s Ironman journey last year, but she also did CDA. Check it out…
