Surf Shade; Week 5 of the 52 Week Photo Challenge.
Dear Lovely Lady in Santa Cruz,
I have so many questions for you.
When I spotted you, it was a perfect Sunday along the coast. The sun was shining and temps were easily in the low 80s. I was walking along West Cliff Drive, taking photos of unsuspecting bystanders, such as yourself (apologies in advance). I remember getting sweaty and I even got an awkward sunburn from where my backpack met my tank top. So when I saw you, you caught my attention.
You were standing underneath the Surfing Monument, just next to the Surfing Museum, with your umbrella shading you from any harmful damage from the sun. You’re a wise woman. But you were also cloaked in a full winter coat and long pants.
Maybe you were trying to drop weight for your next wrestling weigh-in, but I’m going to go out on a ledge and assume that’s not the case.
Maybe you had a severe case of the chills. If so, I wish you would have stayed home and rested.
Or maybe you have the superhuman ability to not feel temperature extremes and you actually cool your core body temperature through top secret glasses that were given to you by the CIA because you’re a special agent here on assignment.
Yes, that’s it.
Godspeed to you, special agent. I’ll be on my way now.
