The King; Week 7 of the 52 Week Photo Challenge.
“Page. Lemmeeeeeee hold it.”
“Kaleb, you cannot spray your sister.”
“Lemmmmmeeeeeeee hold it.”
“Are you going to promise you won’t spray your sister it?”
“I hold it.”
Reluctantly, we gave a three-year-old the hose, praying that he wouldn’t ambush his little sister or my camera (my family likes to live life on the edge, obviously). As his eyes widened, I was reminded that there’s nothing quite like the pure joy of playing with the hose on a 90-degree summer day. Or maybe that was the look of future mayhem. Or a poopy diaper. Who knows.
I’ve been watching my sister’s two kids, both under three, in Reno for the past week and despite the unwarranted tantrums, consistent streams of boogers, and my newfound respect for moms everywhere, I couldn’t help but to look at him in that moment of pure hose joy and think, “Dammit, kid. You’re pretty cute…”
It took all of 47 seconds for that achy ovaries feeling to dissipate as I ran from a stream of water coming right at me.
Thanks, dad, for taking the brunt of it.
I love this! ❤️
