Something about September is making me feel nostalgic.
In fact, this month’s playlist features a few songs from my youth that I still know every word to. Yes, I can throw down Stroke 9, Sublime, Coolio, and Blink 182 like it’s nobody’s business.
But now when I listen to some of the songs that got me through my awkward years (wait, are those over?), I realize just how naïve I was. I sang lyrics that definitely meant something no 10-year-old should know and probably even made a dance routine to them, complete with glitter eye shadow and a kitschy box step. In fact, I have a vivid memory of listening to “Gangster’s Paradise” during a fifth grade pizza party thinking we were pretty hard-core. Thank you Facebook, for not yet being invented.
I’ll spare you the performance and instead opt for a playlist, complete with old and new jams, to get you through your next long run.
And don’t pretend like you don’t crack a smile when you hear, “He asked for a 13 but he drew a 31.” I won’t judge.
Happy Running.

Lovefool! I used to think it was such a romantic song….but wow. Talk about a terrible message. Still can’t stop me from car dancing to it. 🙂
