Taking Time
With 20 weeks of base building under my belt and training just beginning to kick in for Vineman, I know that things are about to get crazy. And while I have undertaken these lofty athletic goals, I can’t forget that I’m now a wife (!) and a puppy mommy, and it will always be my number one goal to spend as much time as possible with my new family.
Thus, for a bit of both physical and mental rest, I opted out of all training for three days and spent some much needed R&R with Chicken Face and Lola in central California (Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach).
We walked along the pier, rested on the beach, went to the aquarium, ate amazing food, lounged by the pool, dragged Chicken Face to the Big Sur marathon expo just to look around (it was coincidentally the same weekend) and most importantly, we were just together.
I’m already missing the weekend.
Have a great week and happy running!
A Busy Couple Of Weeks & Guest Posts
Apologies for the short, housekeeping post today but I’m short on time today, and as they say, that’s just the way the cookie crumbles (QUICK! BONUS POINTS IF YOU KNOW THE MOVIE REFERENCE!).
So here’s the deal-io: the next two weeks are going to be fantastic and busy all at once…
- The family is coming into town this weekend
- Next Friday is my birthday
- We leave for our HONEYMOON next Thursday!!!
Why should this be of interest to you? Well, I’m on the hunt for more guest bloggers while I’m out. If you’d like to contribute, please e-mail me at twentysixandthensome[at]gmail[dot]com by Monday, August 15th.
Also of importance is my ActivewearUSA giveaway. If you haven’t entered yet, I am totally peer pressuring you into it. You have until 5 p.m. PST tonight to enter, so go. Now. Enter. Win. HOLLA!
Aaaaannnnd because we can’t have a blog post without a photo, here’s a randomly delectable snapshot for ya of Aron and Kristin doing what we do best.

A Runner’s Vacation – Cabo 2011
Sad but true, the vacation has come to a close. What seems like an eternity that sped by, our time in Cabo can be simply be defined in one word: FANTASTIC. The antibiotics finally kicked in and I was able to enjoy time in the sun with Chicken Face, my little sister, and the rest of my family. Ten days later, I’m re-energized and ready to take on this training cycle with vigor. But before we do, a few of the many highlights (and I promise…the last time I mention this trip):
Heading off on vacation while starting your training plan can always cause a bit of predicament. But part of my 2011 outlook is to ensure that every moment is lived to the fullest…don’t let any life experiences pass you by. Along with this includes not stressing about perfectly hitting your training while on vacation.Instead, just keep moving and the ensure that the muscles are awake (and don’t forget to partake in a few margaritas). There are 14 weeks left and plenty of time to work a bit harder to get where we want. How do you handle training when on vacation?
Next post…getting back into training after a week off being sick followed by a week of vacation.
Happy running!
