Friday Faves

This week’s Friday Faves is brought to you by a few of my favorite new addictions and a some surprise hidden gems. Yes, more addictions…or maybe it’s just a phase.

Pinterest

Ok people, let’s talk Pinterest. I know that everyone has been raving about it for months now, but I finally hopped on the bandwagon and I can now officially say that  it’s the Internet’s version of crack and I’m addicted. Now if only there can be 30 hours in a day so I can actually do any of the stuff that I pin. You can follow my boards here and yes, this is definitely not helping my less screen time resolution.

NCH1NCH2NCH3

I found these three photos of Katie and I at the NorCal half. Hmmm…maybe if I worried less about smiling for the camera and actually focused on my running, I could be a bad ass like Katie.

Along with Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest and my other daily addictions, Instagram is of course, something that apparently I must participate in as well or else my life will crumble.  I kid. To be honest, it’s quite fantastic as I just sync it with my Twitter account so when I take a photo, apply a filter to make me feel like a better photographer and it will automatically post to Twitter. Plus, when you can follow channels like Puppy Palace and get photos like this in your feed, what’s not to love? (I imagine this little guy saying, “Aye ayyyye aye!”)

This woman. In the pool. With a hooded sweatshirt (and me trying to take a secret photo of it). Just call me Bond.

Last week, it was brought to attention that I made a guest appearance in the official Clif Bar Pace Team video. It brought a smile to my face and brought back the great memories from the Big Sur marathon.

Have a great weekend and happy running!

Friday Favs

This week’s Friday Favs is brought to you by Christmas, some more Christmas, wine and then some Lola cuteness. I’m off to Vegas in a matter of hours (I can’t contain myself!) and I’m sure I’ll have plenty of stories to report back on. Until then, here’s a look at this week’s favorite moments:

Tree chopping at the finest tree lot in Pleasanton: Home Depot.
Yeah, we’re fancy like that, but I still loved it.

Lola admiring (sort of) the Christmas tree glow.

This week, I went two a two-day retreat with my work team in Sonoma. This spot at the winery was one of my favorites.

Me: Chicken Face, where is Lola’s sweatshirt?

Chicken Face: It’s in the dryer.

Me: The dryer?

Proceed to open the dryer and find Lola’s sweatshirt. Chicken Face put it in not because it was wet, but because he wanted it to be nice a toasty for her. Swoon.

When I was home for Thanksgiving, I finally got a helmet! I guess that means I need to man up, get out of spin class now and actually go on a real bike. You can expect a blog post on how to choose a helmet soon!

Now I’m off to get in trouble with some of my favorite people. Happy Running!

Friday Favs

This week’s Friday Favs is brought to you by the holiday that I always wish I did more for – Halloween. I absolutely love Halloween and I always have grand intentions of going all out with decorations and costumes. But every year it seems to slip by, forcing me to forgo all Halloween plans and bake copious amounts of pumpkin pie instead.

However, this week I did get in a hint of Halloween activities, not to mention my first five mile run with no hip pain – hurrah! I won’t lie, those five miles were difficult as I feel horribly out of shape, but I know once I get back into the groove it will all come back.

Here’s to Halloween, healing and puppies in adorable costumes (I’m suck a sucker).

LolaBee

Buzzzzzzzzzz.

Pumpkins

Mine is the pumpkin on the top – can you guess who my inspiration was?

Pumpkin Snickerdoodles

Pumpkin Snickerdoodles.
UH-MA-ZING! I used this recipe and you’d make them too if you knew what was good for ya.

A little hide and seek – I think he’s been spotted.

I got my first pair of CEP compression socks! It took me a minute to figure out how to “efficiently” put these tight suckers on, but I’m excited to put them to work!

Tell me, what are you dressing up as for Halloween? I need to get a costume tonight!

Happy Running and Happy Halloween!

Friday Favs

This past week wasn’t necessarily one that I would write home about. Scratch that, I would write home and probably complain to my mom about my trivial issues including my hip that will most likely force me to not run the Nike Women’s Half marathon come this Sunday (still TBD).

Apparently, my excessive amount of time on a plane last week really messed with my hip and has sidelined my running. I went to a new chiropractor for some intense (and not cheap) ART and let me tell you…it hurt so good. Plus, with Chicken Face busy at work and school, I feel like it’s been a hamster wheel of a week.

However, even hamsters have highlights in their day and below are the few things that really made me appreciate life, even during the monotonous times.

After a long work trip, I was welcomed home with flowers, a card and surprise Mochi ice cream from Chicken Face. #swoon

We all know how frustrating it can be to have to stop running for an injury, but in place of running, I’ve alternated swimming and yoga every day this week. While I have anxiety about not getting as sweaty as I would like, I know that it’s a safe and smart alternative. Plus, I’m actually starting to enjoy my slow and steady swimming.

One of the last things I did in Chicago before I left was run on the lakefront path. Look at that view! Look at the sunrise! It will go down in my book as one of my all-time favorite places to run.

And because you can’t go to Chicago without getting some deep dish…

Happy Running!

Friday Favs

Greetings from the Boston airport! I’m on my way to Chicago to work another event, but luckily, it’s for THE CHICAGO MARATHON! You better believe it, I’ll be at the VW booth at the expo on Saturday and again at the VW Mile 8 tailgate. If you’re running, let me know so I can cheer my heart out for you. Good luck!

As one would expect, this Friday Favs is a continuation of photos from my east coast work tour. I’ve shared my favorites with you in the prior two posts, but here are a few more outtakes. I promise that next week we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled running programming.

 Memories…memmmmmories!

NYC’s new Freedom Tower is breathtaking in every sense of the word.

The view from my NYC office’s rooftop.

My colleagues and I at an award luncheon in NYC – winners!

Embarrassingly immature “Miss You” photos texted to Chicken Face.

So…who’s going to be in Chicago this weekend?!

 Happy Running!

Friday Favs

I’ve completely failed to mention that life at home has been minimal as last weekend Chicken Face and I darted back to Reno to see our families, and next week I have a busy week of work trips to New York, Boston and Chicago. If you’re from any of these cities – let me know! Also, what are your favorite running routes in these cities? I want to be sure that any free time that I can manage is complete with friends and exploring the city in my Vomeros.

Thus, this week’s (late) Friday Favs highlights some very Ren0-esque moments. I’ll be sure to bring you updates from the road all next week.

This was my dad’s father’s day present this year. Seriously.

Hey mom, look over there! (Now is my chance to abscond with her Vespa)

Lola in heaven at Chicken Face’s parent’s garden.

A special surprise dinner made by Chicken Face himself.

A message from the barista who awkwardly hits on everyone, but at least he spelled my name right!

Happy Running!

Friday Favs

Today’s Friday Favs comes to you straight from the comfort of my bed as I take my second sick day from work. I think the go-go-go style of the past month and a trip to LA and back this week finally caught up with me and body said, “ENOUGH!”

Regardless of my DayQuil induced state, the week did have some redeeming moments. Without further ado, here are this week’s Friday Favs:

IMG_3957

My work trip to the LA office was quick, but I got in five miles exploring Wilshire Blvd., including this art that always makes me smile.

IMG_3967
My first LunaFest with my two favs: Kristin and Aron. The 11th annual festival includes short films made for, by and about women – just my style.

IMG_3970

Do I really need to explain why this is a favorite? Just look at that face!

IMG_3963

My ammunition for the week.

IMG_3951

The LA office is fascinating as Wilshire becomes a food truck Mecca at lunchtime. This dish was simple, delicious and something that I want to try to make on my own.

What are your plans for the weekend? What’s your favorite food truck?

Happy Running!

P.S. Thank you to everyone who has been voting in the Nike Runway Crew contest! I’d love your additional support and votes until this Monday. Just click here to vote!

Friday Favs

Why is it that I’ve been back to work for a week and I already feel like I could use another vacation? While I was looking forward to the long weekend, I’ll be in LA for a pretty amazing work event – including a concert by Kanye West (I know what you’re thinking…just go with it though).

Oh, and sorry all of the photos suck this week, I only had my iPhone and a wobbly hand with me.

 IMG_3760

One of my favorite parts of Sunday is waking up and watching the Food Network in bed with Chicken Face. After my round of drooling last Sunday, I made these raspberry crumble bars from this recipe.

IMG_3773

Someone has been in an extra playful mood this week. Despite how horrible my day was at work, coming come to this and her ridiculously playful attitude always puts a smile on my face.

IMG_3777

This is the only drink I ever get from Starbucks: grande, non-fat chai, 180 degrees, no water, no foam. I admit that I’m pretty picky about it, but if I’m going to pay $3.50, I justify it. This week, somehow I became “Mich.” Hmm…I’ll go with it.

IMG_3778

Working late is not fun. But at least when I leave the office the bright lights of San Francisco always sparkle with a certain energy that makes me smile every single time.

While this week’s Friday favs lack any mention of running, don’t worry, it’s happening. But photos of the dreadmill just aren’t that enthralling. What are you doing this Labor Day weekend?

Have a great holiday weekend and happy running!

Friday Favs & Activewear USA Giveaway Winner

This week has been all about getting back into the groove of things, including time with friends, race spectating, running, and of course, working. But as soon as we’re back in the groove, we’ll be jetting back out to finally get our time in the sun.

Aron, Kerry, Corinne, Lola and I all headed out to the new Fast and Furious race in downtown Pleasanton. Complete with a 5K, a 1-mile elite run and a ridiculous amount of cycling races (I can’t even begin to comprehend the cycling jargon), it was such a great time to chill with friends and support our other friends racing.

With an online coupon in hand (I only by shoes with coupons!) I made the jump of buying another pair of shoes so I can start to circulate shoes throughout training. It’s something I’ve never done before, but can understand the benefits of breaking in two pairs for continued support throughout the cycle and have different shoes for different types of races.

A while back, I confessed my reading habits. Since then, I made my first big Amazon book purchase and am already well into the process of being BFFs with reading again. Thanks for all of your recos!

I’ve seen the gelato at Costco, but why didn’t anyone tell me how freakin’ delicious it is?! Plus, three scoops in a waffle cone for under two bucks. Heaven in a cone.

Uh oh. It’s official.

And now the moment you’ve been waiting for…the winner of the ActivewearUSA giveaway. Drum roll please…

CONGRATS TO SAMANTHA WALTON, FROM FITNESS, FOOD & FAITH!

You’ve won some pretty sweet ActiveWearUSA gear!! E-mail me your mailing address and we’ll get it out asap.

Tell me, what are your favorite summer treats and do you circulate shoes?

Have a great weekend and happy running!

Friday Favs

To keep up with the go-go-go theme as of late, this weekend we’re heading out of town (again!) to go to a baby shower, then we’re in the final stretch! Thus, this week’s Friday favs are probably some of the most random ever (I forgot to take photos of any of my runs), but hang in there with me. Once we’re hitched, I’ll have more time to blog (P.S. why is Chris Brown still popular and on the Today show? Not cool.).

This is the extent of my wedding beauty routine. I feel like I should probably be doing more, but instead I’ll opt for a $13 face mask.

I never imagined just how stressful wedding planning could be. I mean serious, all out stress for what is supposed to be the happiest day of our lives. The good news is, we may argue, but we always come back to our ridiculous selves.

My mom scored BIG when she gave us our dream knives for my bridal shower. These bad boys are insanely sharp and I feel like I could give Bobby Flay a run for his money…or not.

Have I told you that we have Lola trained to be a mini-human (a.k.a. baby)? Her “comfort” spot is perched upon our shoulder as we rock her a bit. Ridiculous and adorable.

I have a slight obsession with Emma Stone and I’m loving her clean look with cat eyes. I already had my wedding make-up trial run, but it was a bit too intense for the big day, so I might go in with this instead. They always say go in with a photo of someone who has the same hair/look as you. Here’s hoping this one works.

Have a great weekend and happy running!
